Family Room Remodel in Plano, TX
The homeowners of this traditional Plano residence wanted to remodel their family room and fireplace. They wanted to create an open space concept between their kitchen and family room. The family desired more updated space and open space for entertaining and a place for gathering with family and friends.
After removing a load bearing wall separating the kitchen and family room, it was now time to focus on updating the family room. Their fireplace was the center of attention for the homeowners and the focal point of the space. This entire wall project involved complete removal of the existing fireplace façade and mantel. By raising the existing fire box approximately twelve inches, this accounted for the new raised lueder stone capped hearth the family wanted. The fireplace stone the family chose was a beautiful stacked stone in warm gray tones and installed to ceiling height. The adjoining built in wall shelving units on each side of the fireplace needed to be updated to coordinate with the new stone fireplace. Utilizing a portion of the existing cabinets, we custom built stationary recessed floating shelves for a more updated concept for their fireplace remodel.
The next item for updated was their coffered ceiling. The flat panel was painted a brilliant white to brighten the room and a dark custom mixed stain for the beams. Along with larger new windows and the hand scraped hard wood flooring was refinished. New soft gray wall paint, new white base boards and trim completed this stunning transformation of the family room.
